Going to the pharmacy or store to look for a hair product and finding yourself in front of a wall full of jars is a situation that many men know well. Wax, pomade, clay, gel, cream… Which one do you choose?
At Pinibarber we see it every day. That’s why we have prepared this simple guide to help you make the right choice.
FIXING WAX: who is it for?
Wax is the most versatile product and the one we recommend to most clients. It offers strong or medium hold, a natural or slightly shiny finish, and is easy to apply and remove with water. It works great with short or medium-length hair, modern cuts such as the fade, crop or quiff, and normal or light textures.
Our advice: apply it to slightly damp hair for a more natural and long-lasting result.
POMADES: who is it for?
Pomade gives a very shiny finish and a more combed and classic look. Ideal for retro, wavy or slick back styles. It is usually heavier than wax and costs a little more to remove. It works best with thick hair or with a lot of natural texture.
AND THE GEL?
Gel gives a very strong hold but a plasticized finish that is no longer very easy to style. For occasional uses it can be fine, but if you are looking for a professional and modern result, wax wins.
